When it comes to senior pictures, I’m a big believer in keeping things real.
The best senior sessions, the ones that feel relaxed, fun, and meaningful, are the ones where you show up just as you are. Whether you’re from Jamestown High School or a nearby school in the area, your senior photos should reflect you, not a version of someone else’s idea of what they should look like.
Start With What Feels True To You
Before you even think about outfits or locations, take a second to think about what lights you up. What do you love? What makes you you?
Are you into sports? Hunting or fishing? Maybe you’ve got a guitar you can’t put down, a dog that’s basically your best friend, or a truck you’ve been working on since you could turn a wrench.
Whatever it is, let’s work it into your session. You don’t have to fit into a mold here. In fact, I’d rather you break it.
Some personal touches to consider:
Your sports gear, musical instrument, or letter jacket
A dog, horse, or animal that’s part of your life
Hunting or fishing gear
Your favorite outfit, band tee, or signature accessories
Something with family meaning, grandpa’s cowboy hat, a necklace from your mom, etc.
I always tell my seniors: you don’t have to dress up like someone you’re not. The goal isn’t to look like a magazine model. It’s to look like you on your best day.
For senior guys, 2–3 looks is usually perfect. Girls, 3–5 options give us some nice variety. Think about mixing casual, a little dressy, and something that feels truly you.
A little bonus tip for you is that solid colors, great layers, and a favorite accessory (like a belt buckle, hat, or boots) can really make a difference without overcomplicating things.
I’ve got go-to ranch spots that feel like a North Dakota dream, wide open skies, golden light, and rustic charm. But if you’re from Jamestown and want something closer to home or more unique to you, we can make that happen, too.
Want to shoot in a spot that means something to you? A lake you grew up going to, a quiet road near your home, a downtown wall with your favorite mural? Let’s do it.
I love it when seniors want to incorporate their backdrop in the photos they'll always look back on!
If the idea of a long photoshoot doesn’t sound like your thing, you’re not alone, especially for senior guys. That’s why I offer simplicity sessions: short, no-stress sessions that still pack in a ton of personality.
They’re ideal if you just want a few really great photos without spending hours in front of the camera. It’s quick, comfortable, and still gives you images you’ll be proud of.
Most seniors show up saying, “I don’t know how to pose” or “I’m awkward in photos.” I promise you, that’s completely normal. You don’t need to know what to do. That’s what I’m here for.
I’ll help you feel comfortable, walk you through some easy movement and prompts, and before you know it, you’re just having a conversation with a camera around. We’ll laugh, talk, and I’ll capture all those little moments that really show you.
Senior year is a big deal. It’s not just about classes and countdowns. It’s about who you are right now, and everything that’s led you to this point.
Let’s make sure your senior session captures more than just what you look like. Let’s capture what matters to you.
Class of 2026 & 2027, if you’re in Jamestown, North Dakota, or surrounding areas and want senior photos that feel like you, let’s talk. I’ll help you plan everything from outfits to location, and make sure you walk away with images that your family will treasure forever.
