Your senior pictures should tell your story. Whether you're from Bismarck, Minot, Mandan, or any other small town in central North Dakota, your senior session should feel like you, from the outfit choices to the location and everything in between.

Here are my favorite tips for making your North Dakota senior session completely personal and totally unforgettable.

Pick A Location That Feels Like Home

Are you a country kid who feels most yourself in the wide open fields? Or maybe you love the small-town charm of downtown Bismarck or Mandan? Whether it’s your family farm, the river bottoms, or your favorite spot in town, choosing a location that’s meaningful to you will instantly make your session more genuine.

Some of my favorite places for senior pictures in Bismarck and central ND include the Missouri River, Fort Lincoln trails, the State Capital, rustic backroads, vibrant downtown Bismarck, and of course my ranch ;)

Bring What You Love

Want your truck in your photos? Let’s do it. Love your dog, horse, or favorite guitar? Bring them along! Including hobbies, sports gear, or even your cowboy hat can make your session feel way more personal.

The goal is to capture who you are right now, in this season of life. Those personal touches make your photos way more memorable—and way more you.

Wear What Makes You Feel Confident

Skip the pressure to be someone you’re not. If jeans and boots are your everyday vibe, rock them. If you love a more dressed-up look, that’s great too. The best outfits are the ones that make you feel like your best self.

Make It A Vibe

Want music playing during your shoot? Want to start at golden hour and end under the stars? Let’s create a session that doesn’t feel like a photoshoot, it feels like a memory.

Some of my favorite North Dakota senior sessions happen when we take a little drive, hit a gravel road, and let the session unfold naturally. That’s when the real moments happen.
